Since 2011, I have tutored most branches of mathematics, but my focus now is exclusively Calculus and Precalculus, both at the high school and college level. There is significant student demand for a qualified calculus tutor, especially with respect to online courses.
I come equipped with a BS in Mathematics from Marshall University (cum laude). I have taught high school mathematics to grades 9 through 12 as well as college prep mathematics to advanced high school seniors. After college, I even tutored some of my former high school math teachers working on advanced degrees.
I spent most of my career as a multi-credentialed Enrolled actuary (FSA, FCA, MAAA) and president of an actuarial firm. From time to time I assisted students who were studying for actuarial exams. I took an early retirement in 2011, but still wanted to stay active in the area that I love best..mathematics!

Calculus Qualifications
Put at its simplest, Calculus deals with rate of change and area under a curve. In particular, differential calculus addresses rate of change in the determination of critical points of functions, maximum and minimum points, inflection points, related rate problems, optimization problems, slopes of functions at specific points and many, many other things. Integral Calculus focuses on issues relating to area under a curve. In a sense it is differential Calculus going backwards. Determining area, volume, cost/revenue/profit, and many other things utilize this form of Calculus. If you need someone to help you sort all of this out, I'm your guy. I work to simplify Calculus concepts for my students by utilizing practical examples and problems and have had great success
Precalculus Qualifications
In order to reach the mysterious lands of Calculus you must first pass through the valley of Precalculus, and it's not an easy trip! But Precalculus forms the building blocks of Calculus and your success in Calculus will be directly related to the strength of your Precalculus building blocks.
Precalculus is a difficult subject mainly because it is an extremely broad math subject. You will learn about all kinds of functions, one-to-one functions, even functions, odd functions, power functions, logarithmic functions, exponential functions and many more. You will have to learn how to translate, reflect and dilate these functions. You will have to learn how to graph all of these functions. You will have to learn how to find the roots of these functions.
And then there is the trigonometry part of Precalculus. What is meant by radians, angular motion, sin/cos/tangent, amplitude and phase shift, trig identities, graphing trig functions? The list goes on and on.
There is much more material in Precalculus than I've described here but you get the idea and you can get through it with a good grade. If you need someone to help you through this maze of topics, again, I'm your guy. I will simplify the concepts with examples and problems which will help you understand them and succeed in your class work
